2010 Summer in the Mountains Dairy Goat Show, Dates: June 3rd to June 6th Entry Deadline - TBA Check in/unloading: All animals for TBA show must arrive no later than 8:00am TBA. All animals for TBA show must arrive no later than 8:00am TBA . All animals for the one day milk testing must arrive by 4:00pm TBA. Release: Upon conclusion of the Buck Show on Saturday June 20, 2009. Upon the conclusion of the Buck Show on Sunday June 21, 2009. -Competition is open to the world of animals registered or recorded with the American Dairy Goat Association, American Goat Society or the Canadian Goat Society. All rules are that are governed by the American Dairy Goat Association shall be followed and enforced. -Ages of the animals in the show will be computed from June 20, 2009 -Pens will be assigned. There will be no extra stalls provided for tack. Pens will be assigned on a first come first served basis (pens are 8x8). Exhibitors are responsible for any additional penning they may need. Bucks will be penned in a designated area away from the does. No bucks may be penned with the does. Exhibitors with small animals will need to provide their own penning to contain those animals. -No dogs will be allowed on show premises. -No horned animals may be entered in the show or housed in the barn. -Health papers are not required, however all animals must be checked by a member of the goat health evaluation committee or designated personnel before unloading. Any animal deemed unhealthy by said person(s) shall not be permitted to unloaded or allowed to show. All out of state animals must be tested negative for TB (60 days) and Brucellosis (30 days) or hail from a Certified free state. Or belong to a certified accredited disease free herd (proof of such must be provided before unloading). All decisions of the goat health evaluation committee are final. -Mail entry forms to Sherry Williams 1211 Hicks Chapel Loop, Marion NC 28752 by June 12, 2009. Please include appropriate entry fees along with entries. Late entries will be accepted. The late entry fee is $10.00 per entry for entries postmarked after June 12, 2009. -Entries accepted in order as received until the deadline or until the maximum number stated for the show has been reached. -Maximum number of goats accepted for the show is 400. -Separate entry forms must be used for Showmanship, Junior Does, Senior Does, Bucks, and milk testing. If entering more than one breed, please group on form by breed. If entering in group classes, put the breed, herd name or sire name and registration number in entry blank along with class number. -Substitutions of animals are allowed within the breed and class of original entry. Limited to two per exhibitor. -The original registration/recordation certificate or stamped duplicate (for animals under 6 months old only) is required and must be shown to the show secretary before the start of the show check in. -Showmanship will be held on Saturday June 21, 2009 at the conclusion of the buck show. (Subject to change according to the judges schedule.) Judging will begin on Saturday June 20, 2009 at 930am starting with the Junior Doe show. Senior Does will begin at the conclusion of the Junior Doe show, followed by the Buck show. Judging will begin on Sunday June 21, 2009 at 930am starting with the Junior Doe show followed by the Senior doe show. Bucks will begin at the conclusion of the Senior Doe show. -Show is sanctioned separately for the following breeds in the Junior Doe, Senior Doe and Buck divisions by the American Dairy Goat Association. Goats will also be shown in the following order. Junior Doe LaManchas, Nigerians, Nubians, Saanen, Alpines, Recorded Grade, AOP. Senior Doe: LaManchas, Nigerians, Nubians, Oberhasli, Saanens, Alpines, Recorded Grades, Toggenburg. Buck Show: LaManchas, Nigerian, Nubians, Saanen, AOP. -All exhibitors are responsible for their own property. In no case shall the Summer in the Mountains Dairy Goat show, the WNC Agriculture Center, the Piedmont Dairy Goat Association or any persons involved in the operation of this show be held responsible for any loss, theft, death or damage at any time or place, regardless of the cause of such. -Exhibitors are requested to wear appropriate show attire while exhibiting goats (white or off white shirt, white or black pants). Shorts and skirts will be permitted but if any of the show attire is deemed inappropriate by the show committee the exhibitor will be asked to and must change or risk being unable to exhibit in the show ring. -There will be no pre show milk out. Milk will be dumped in the pre-assigned area only. -All decisions of the judge are final. -All animals must arrive by 400pm on Friday June 19, 2009 for the milk test. All animals must arrive by 800am on Saturday June 20, 2009 for the Saturday Show. All animals must arrive by 800am on Sunday June 21, 2009 for the Sunday Show. There are no other exceptions to this rule. If an emergency arises, the exhibitor is responsible for contacting the show secretary before the check in deadline and a reasonable allowance may be made at the discretion of the show secretary.
